Proposed Magdalen Road ‘Lorry ban’

Closed 24 Mar 2019

Opened 22 Feb 2019

Overview

The Council is proposing to introduce a ban for Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) using Magdalen Road as a cut-through. This ban will operate at all times and will affect all lorries over 7.5 tonnes and coaches, except those with legitimate business in the area, such as for loading or unloading of deliveries or coaches to local schools.

As you may already be aware, residents living on residential roads between Magdalen Road and Burntwood Lane were recently consulted on a proposal to implement the ‘Magdalen Estate lorry ban’ and this is now being progressed.

In response to concerns raised by Ward Councillors and residents regarding the disruption caused by HGV’s using Magdalen Road, the Council is canvasing residents to learn your views on including Magdalen Road within the ‘Magdalen Estate lorry ban’ area.

This proposal would prevent any displacement of lorries from the ‘Magdalen Estate lorry ban’ area on to your road. A layout of the proposal is attached at the bottom of the page.

The Council wants to know your views on the proposal before a decision is made on whether to proceed with the scheme.
