Consultation on Proposed Lorry Ban in the Earlsfield and Wandsworth Common wards (Magdalen Estate)

Closed 28 Oct 2018

Opened 28 Sep 2018

Overview

The Council wants your views on a proposal to restrict access for 7.5 tons Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) to the Magdalen Estate Area.

In February 2018, the Council carried out a statutory consultation regarding these proposals. Following this consultation, comments, concerns and objections were carefully considered and the decision has now been made to re-consult on the proposed lorry ban using an expanded area to avoid displacement of HGV traffic in the local area.

The February 2018 consultation feedback suggested that many respondents would be in favour of a modified proposal, whereby the lorry ban is extended to cover all roads in the Earlsfield ward potentially affected by the original scheme.

The initial area was bound by Magdalen Road to the North-West, Trinity Road to the North-East, Burntwood Lane to the South-East and Fieldview to the South-West. Having considered the consultation feedback, the revised scheme proposes to extend this area in the South-West up to Garratt Lane.

Such an arrangement would establish a comprehensive traffic solution that is beneficial to the entire residential area bounded by Trinity Road to the North-East and Garratt Lane to the South-West.

The proposal is illustrated on the map attached at the bottom of the page, and the Council would like to know your views before we decide whether to progress it further.
