Thank you to all those who took part in the consultation. You can read a summary report here.

Overview

During an initial round of consultation in February to March 2018, Wandsworth Council asked for your views on a range of different types of equipment for Windmill Playground.

Based on the results of the first round of consultation, three designs have been developed. You can find out more about the designs below:

We would like your feedback to help decide on a final design.

As part of the proposed improvements, the plan is to extend the playground. The extension area is currently part of the common consisting of amenity grass with limited biodiversity value and shaded by trees.

As well as allowing for the playground to have a better flow, the extension will provide space for parents and guardians to sit without limiting the area given over to play items as well as an opportunity to improve the area for wildlife through biodiversity planting. An application for the planned extension is being submitted and is subject to approval by the Planning Inspectorate.

As Windmill Playground is on Common Land, we have strict guidelines regarding what can be done, which has also informed the three designs. The style and height of any new equipment will have to be sympathetic to the area and it will have to be appropriate for the age range of intended use. For Windmill Playground the intended age range is for children aged up to 8 years.

What happens next?

Once this consultation has closed, all of the feedback will be carefully considered to decide on the final design. The final design will then be submitted for approval by the Planning Inspectorate.

Whilst every attempt will be made to construct the final design to plan, certain elements may have to be altered during the implementation stage due to unforeseen technical or logistical issues.
