Help shape Wandsworth Council's new Biodiversity Action Plan

Following consultation on the draft Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP), we reviewed feedback from residents, community groups, environmental organisations and other stakeholders.

Overall, there was support for the ambition, vision, and objectives set out within the draft Plan. Respondents highlighted the importance of protecting and enhancing biodiversity, increasing community involvement, improving habitats, addressing climate change impacts and ensuring biodiversity considerations are embedded across Council services and developments.

We carefully considered all consultation responses alongside supporting evidence, biodiversity data, ecological expertise, and feedback received through stakeholder engagement activities. In addition to the public consultation, we engaged with a range of partners and internal Council services to ensure the Plan reflected local priorities and opportunities for biodiversity enhancement.

The consultation directly influenced the final Biodiversity Action Plan. As a result of feedback, we strengthened a number of actions and areas of focus, including community engagement and education, monitoring and reporting commitments, habitat enhancement measures, partnership working, and the integration of biodiversity objectives into wider Council decision-making. We also clarified several actions and priorities to provide greater transparency around delivery and outcomes.

The final Biodiversity Action Plan therefore reflects both the evidence base underpinning biodiversity needs within Wandsworth and the views expressed through the consultation process. Consultation findings, supporting ecological data, and wider policy considerations were all taken into account when finalising the document.

Wild Wandsworth is Wandsworth Council's ambitious new Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP), and we want your input to help shape it!

Currently in development, the BAP aims to build on the Council's ongoing work with partners to protect and nurture Wandsworth’s precious habitats and species, while supporting the goals set out in the 2020 Wandsworth Biodiversity Strategy. The new plan will also outline ways to provide more opportunities for residents to connect with local wildlife and green spaces, helping you enjoy the many benefits that come from engaging with nature.
