Next steps

Funding has now been confirmed to make improvements to the playground. Once designs are ready, we intend to hold a second round of public consultation later this year to ask the public which playground design they would like to see go forward for development.

Proposals for an adult outdoor gym/ trim trail are currently being put together. We intend to consult local residents and park users about the proposals in the next few months.

Overview

We want to hear how you use and value Garratt Park Playground and the ball court in order to guide how we move forward with improving the park.

In July 2016 money was awarded from Wandsworth Local Fund (WLF) to a scheme to resurface the play area in Garratt Park and incorporate a tree root barrier membrane to limit the damaging effects of the boundary poplars on the playground. Subsequent investigative work to deliver this project has made it clear that there is a need to redesign and re-equip the entire play space at the same time to improve inclusive play opportunities and address how the playground sits within the wider park and is accessible for all.

Through this consultation we want to find out how you currently use the playground, what you like about it and what you think could be improved.

We also want to understand better how the ball court is used in Garratt Park and if there is any demand for changing or developing the current facilities. The results of this consultation will then be used to inform an additional funding proposal to deliver improvements to the play and recreation facilities in Garratt Park.

We are holding two drop-in sessions in Garratt Park, near the playground, where you can ask us any questions you might have about the consultation:

  • Friday 10 August 2018, 10am to 4pm
  • Saturday 11 August 2018, 10am to 4pm
