Share your views on the proposed changes to Church Lane Corner and Bickersteth Road

As part of our commitment to improve the environment in Tooting town centre, Wandsworth Council is proposing changes to the public spaces at Church Lane Corner and the Bickersteth Road entrance. 

Recent upgrades have included:

• Jet-washing
• Paving and drainage repairs
• Additional planting
• Extra cycle parking

While recent upgrades have helped tidy and refresh the area, there’s still more we can do to make these spaces:

• Easier and safer to move through
• More comfortable and welcoming for everyone
• Better connected to local shops and businesses
• Greener and more resilient to rain and weather

This next phase builds on those upgrades to create a calmer, greener and more welcoming place that supports local businesses and improves everyday experiences for residents and visitors.

What happens next

After the consultation closes, we will review all feedback and (if appropriate) confirm a preferred crossing option at Church Lane Corner.

We will then refine a preferred design for Church Lane Corner and the Bickersteth Road entrance for technical work and delivery planning, subject to consultation outcomes, approvals and funding.

We will keep local groups and businesses involved as the project progresses.
