Review of the Whitton South Controlled Parking Zone (Zone WS)

Closes 19 Dec 2021

Opened 22 Nov 2021

Overview

Review of the Whitton South Controlled Parking Zone (Zone WS)

In March 2020, the Council implemented the Whitton South Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ), Zone WS, operating 10am to 2pm, Monday to Friday, following consultation with residents and businesses in the area.

Since its implementation, the Council has received feedback from the public concerning the zone’s operation.  The Council has noted the feedback received and is now consulting residents as we review the road design in the CPZ and consider whether any modifications are required in light of comments received.

We are aware that residents are concerned about the potential impact the opening of Turing House School could have on local parking conditions. We will be keen to hear from residents again once the school has been open and running at full capacity for a period of time.

The boundary plan can be seen here.

We are seeking feedback from residents and businesses within the CPZ on the operation of the zone including whether you would like the operational hours/days to be reduced, extended or the existing ones retained.  A change to the operational hours/days could affect the cost of your resident/business permit depending on the change. The current costs are below and are reviewed annually:-

Resident visitor permits

Resident visitor permits (scratchcards) currently cost £14.55 per book of ten half day permits.  These are half price to the over 60s. The permit must be validated for the relevant time period.  One permit, correctly validated, would be required for one full day’s parking in a CPZ that operates for two to four hours. Two permits would be required for zones operating for more than four hours a day.

Have your say

Please give us your views by completing the online survey below.

If you are unable to complete the survey online and you would like a paper copy of the questionnaire, please call (020) 8871 8929 leaving your name and address including postcode and quoting reference ‘WS’ and one will be posted out to you with a postage paid return envelope.

Should you wish to make any additional comments, including regarding the effectiveness of the present parking layout/design and any suggested improvements, you may do so by emailing WS@richmondandwandsworth.gov.uk, writing ‘WS’ in the subject heading. All comments will be considered but it will not be possible to respond to individual emails/comments.

What happens next?

The Council would like to demonstrate that any measures have the support of the local community, so a good response is important. Whilst we would like to apply the most supported options among responding households, the final decision will not be based on residents’ views alone.  All feedback will be considered along with relevant traffic management and other highway factors, prior to a decision being made on the way forward.

Further information, including on parking charges is available on the Council’s Parking Reviews webpage here, and website here or by calling the Customer Service Centre on 020 8891 1411 and asking for the Parking Policy Team.
