Whitton Road CPZ (Zone WR) Review

Results updated 9 Sep 2026

Thank you to everyone who took part in the Whitton Road Controlled Parking Zone (Zone WR) Review consultation.

Following consideration of the consultation findings, it has been decided to retain the existing Whitton Road CPZ arrangements. Consultation responses indicated support for maintaining the current scheme.

As part of the review, proposals to extend the CPZ into Chase Gardens were also considered. Feedback received through the consultation supported the introduction of parking controls in this area and the extension will therefore be progressed.

The consultation findings and recommendations were reviewed as part of the Council's decision-making process and informed the final outcome.

Further information, including the decision report, is available on the Council website here.

Overview

In 2020, the Council implemented the Whitton Road Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ), Zone WR, operating 8.30am to 6.30pm, Monday to Saturday, and 11am to 11pm on event days.

Since its implementation, the Council has received some feedback from residents and businesses concerning this zone’s operation.

We are now carrying out a consultation with all properties in the CPZ on how the scheme has worked. This includes seeking views on whether the CPZ’s operational hours/days are about right or need to be changed.

Further information

The Council would like to demonstrate that any changes to a CPZ have the support of residents so a good response is very important, although the Council will not base its decision on residents’ wishes alone. All feedback to this consultation will be considered by the Council along with all relevant traffic management and other highway factors, prior to a decision being made on the way forward.
