Kew Road cycle lane consultation

Overview

Kew Road, Richmond (Stanmore Road – Lion Gate Gardens)

Recently the Council implemented new cycle lanes on Kew Road, which have encouraged an increase in cycling, drawing in on average more than 4000 cycle movements per week. However, as part of the original works done here, we were unable to provide a facility between Stanmore Road and Lion Gate Gardens as the carriageway width was too narrow.

It was always our intention to return and finish this part of the facility once funding became available. With a funding allocation provided by Transport for London, we are now in a position to return and complete this missing section.   

The proposals involve relocating the existing kerbs on both sides of the road to widen the carriageway and create the extra space required to provide a protected cycle facility. These changes are shown in the attached plan. Please note that there will be a requirement to relocate three street trees as part of these works.

If you would like to make any comments regarding these proposals please do so by 4^th December 2022 to ensure that your views are considered. Subject to a review of the consultation responses, it is our intention to implement the works early 2023.
