This formal stage of consultation asked residents and businesses in Barnes about their views on the character of their local area today and for the future. The responses submitted are currently being considered by the Council.  The results of the consultation will be published in the Autumn of 2015, this is also when the final version of the SPD, taking account of consultation responses, is expected to be adopted.

Overview

London Borough of Richmond upon Thames (LBRuT) wants residents and businesses to help with improving the Barnes Village area. This will include helping to shape village planning guidance that the Council will consider when deciding on planning applications, both for new development and changes to existing buildings.

 This is the formal stage of consultation when residents and businesses are being asked about their views on the character of their local area today and for the future, as set out in the Draft Village Planning Supplementary Planning Document (SPD). The final version of the SPD, taking account of consultation responses, is expected to be adopted in the summer of 2015.

Please look at the draft SPD and other supporting documents attached below before taking part in this survey and providing us with your views.   

Responses should be submitted by Monday 23 March 2015 when the consultation closes.

Whilst the Council encourages anyone with appropriate facilities to complete the survey on-line, please contact us if you would like a paper version of the questionnaire or more informationusing the contact details provided above right.

Why your views matter

Local residents took part in public events and walkabouts that were held in Barnes at the end of 2014.  The information from these events and a questionnaire have been fed into the draft SPD.  We would like your views on this document before it is finalised.

    The information collected from the Village Plans engagement activities are now being complied in to local Village Plans. The new plans will be published in March/ April 2015.

    Draft Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs) have also been drawn up, and residents are invited to have their say online.

  • Barnes SPD Launch

    The Council has adopted the Supplementary Planning Document for Barnes, which was produced using the feedback from extensive feedback through the Village Planning consultations. You will be able to see copies of the SPD, meet Cllrs and Officers, and ask questions about how the SPD can be used in the future.
    The venue is Rose House, the head quarters of the Barnes Community Association.
