Richmond Respite Care Consultation

Closed 19 Aug 2016

Opened 4 Jul 2016

Results updated 8 Nov 2016

Following the consultation, recommendations were developed taking all feedback into account. These recommendations were approved at a Cabinet meeting on the 13th October 2016. The new model of respite provision is now in development and this is being supported by a carer/service user co-design group.

Overview

We are consulting on the proposed model for the future of Learning Disability respite support in Richmond-upon-Thames. Planned and emergency respite is an essential resource for people with a learning disability and their families and carers, and we have for some time been undertaking a review of the service. Our aim is to improve its flexibility, efficiency, and suitability for supporting and enabling service users with a diverse range of needs, as well as allow families and carers to feel confident and comfortable whilst they have a break. To this end we want to make sure we have worked with you to get it right first time. This is the final window of consultation on the proposals, and is open to any stakeholder who may have a question or comment to make.

The consultation document below gives an overview of feedback to date, our responses, and the model as is currently proposed. It gives a rationale for this, and sets out a tentative timeline for the consultation period, as well as a commitment to holding face to face meetings – or attending any public events and groups – should you feel that this will help. The official window closes on 19 August, with room for meetings to continue into early September in order to make up for the Summer holiday. The outcome of the consultation will be fed back via a report published late September.

Please read the consultation document and give us your views using the online survey below. If you require a paper copy of the document or survey or an easy-read version, please contact us at rightcarerightplace@richmond.gov.uk
