Overview

Richmond Council and health partners are consulting on a draft 10-year Health and Care Dementia Strategy that has five key focus areas.

What is dementia?

Dementia is an umbrella term for a range of disorders affecting the brain. These disorders are gradual, the most common are Alzheimer’s disease and vascular dementia. The existing National Dementia Strategy aims for England to be the best country in the world for dementia care and support, and for people with dementia, their carers and families to live, and the best place in the world to do research into the condition.

What is Richmond doing about dementia?

The London Borough of Richmond upon Thames has worked hard to develop good services for people with dementia and their carers. This draft strategy has been informed and developed by the Council. We worked with people living with dementia, service users, their family and carers, local providers. We would now like to get your views.

Have your say

In this consultation we ask you to have your say on areas of focus designed to support those living with dementia and their carers across Richmond. There will be opportunities to add any comments or suggestions, and all feedback received will be reviewed and used to inform the final version of the Health and Care Dementia Strategy.

By listening to you, we can be sure that we are making the right decisions.

This is your chance to:

  • have your say
  • be involved
  • influence decisions and services
  • share information

Please read the draft strategy here before giving us your views using the Online Survey link below.

You can also read the Easy Read version of the strategy here and the current Equality Impact Needs Assessment here.
