Wandsworth SEND Services Survey - Your Voice, Our Future

Overview

Why we are consulting

The Wandsworth Parent Carer Forum is collaborating with Wandsworth Council and Wandsworth Health Services to create a co-production charter focused on health, education, and social care.

This charter will be used once finalised to enhance cooperation between families and professionals, thereby influencing the development of the Wandsworth SEND strategy.

What is co-production

Co-production with parents, young people, and children means building collaborative partnerships where their insights and lived experiences directly influence decisions, whether for individuals, services, or policies.

At its core, co-production with parent-carers and young people is about establishing such partnerships.

For example:

  • Individual level: school staff meet with parents, carers and children before writing an individual support plan, and then the plan is written together.
  • Operational level: parents, carers, children and young people work together to create a school behaviour policy.
  • Strategic level: parents, carers, children and professionals work together to create a long-term plan, using data and case studies to develop a support service for young carers.

Have your say

Your input is crucial in helping us define the core values for a future coproduction charter. We ask that you answer the following questions, as your responses will directly inform the charter's key principles.

If you require a paper copy or information in another format, please contact consultation@wandsworth.gov.uk quoting "Wandsworth SEND Services Survey"" in the subject line or call 020 8871 8061.

What happens next

Alongside this survey for parents and carers, we will also be gathering feedback from practitioners across education, health and social care. The findings from both surveys will be analysed to identify common themes, areas of strength and opportunities for improvement.

We will then bring these insights together through a co-production event involving families, young people and professionals. The purpose of the event will be to work collaboratively to develop a shared Co-production Charter (or Promise) that sets out how we will work together in the future.

This Charter will reflect the views and experiences of everyone involved and will establish a clear commitment to meaningful partnership working, ensuring that families, children and young people are listened to, valued and involved in decisions that affect them.
