Wimbledon Stadium Parking Review

Closed 10 Apr 2022

Opened 14 Mar 2022

Overview

Following public feedback the Council approved the introduction of Event Day restrictions in August 2021. These restrictions, effective from October 2021, have applied only on days when matches (or other large events) have taken place at the new Wimbledon Stadium on Plough Lane.

The Event Day restrictions have operated from 9.30am – 9.30pm whenever an event has taken place, including Bank Holidays. The maximum stay for non-resident visitors has been limited to one hour.

The restrictions were subject to an Experimental Traffic Management Order, which means that residents and business can provide comments or objections during the first six months of operation.

The Council is now reviewing the Event Day restrictions to ensure that they are effective and meeting the needs of local people. As part of the review process, we would like to hear your views about the Event Day parking restrictions.

We have also received feedback from some residents who feel that additional parking controls are necessary on other days, for example later into the evening and at weekends. We are therefore asking for your views about possible changes to the operational days and hours within your zone, when there are no matches or events taking place.

Have your say

Please give us your views by clicking on the online survey link below.

If you are unable to complete the survey online and would like a paper copy of the questionnaire, please contact (020) 8871 8929, and leave your name and address, quoting ‘Event Day Consultation’. We will then send you a copy with a postage paid return envelope.

The Council would like to demonstrate that any changes to the Event Day restrictions or the operational days/hours of your zone have the support of the local community, so a good response is very important. Please respond to all questions even if you don’t own a vehicle, or if you oppose the CPZ or amendments to it, because parking controls will still affect you and your visitors.

What happens next

The feedback will be analysed for the whole area and by street, meaning that changes could be made in some roads and not others, if appropriate.  All feedback will be considered along with relevant traffic management and other highway factors, and we will write to you once the Council has made a decision on the way forward.

Updated information about the review of the Event Day restrictions will also be published at: www.wandsworth.gov.uk/wimbledonstadium
