Rowfant Road
Overview
Following the temporary no entry onto Balham Park Road and banned left turn onto Chestnut Grove introduced by Transport for London (TfL) as part of their CS7 cycle corridor along the A24 Balham High Road, the Council has received anecdotal evidence the volume of through traffic has increased in your local area and is a cause for safety concerns. We have also received two petitions from the residents of Rowfant Road asking for their road to be made one-way southbound.
At present TfL is yet to inform us of their proposal for these temporary restrictions, and the Council is therefore seeking your views on these temporary changes along with our ideas to reduce through traffic in your local area (see map here).
Below are three ideas that could be trialled along with TfL’s implemented temporary changes and we will rely on your feedback to enable the Council to make a decision whether or not a trial should go ahead. The options below aim to reduce the volume of through traffic in your local area as shown in the plan here. Note, options 1 and 2 will also separately require TfL’s approval to enable a trial.
- Subject to TfL’s agreement, no entry into Marius Road from the A24
- Subject to TfL’s agreement, banned left turn into Marius Road from the A24
- Make Rowfant Road one-way southbound as requested by residents
