Putney Heath Lane - Traffic Management Trial

Closed 29 Oct 2021

Opened 19 Apr 2021

The Council carried out a public consultation in November regarding the Putney Heath Lane traffic management trial and feedback from respondents showed that the majority were in favour of some form of traffic management intervention to reduce through traffic between West Hill and Putney Hill during peak hours. The preferred option from respondents was for both left turn bans to be trialled. More detailed information is available here.

What happens next

A trial consisting of a morning peak hour (7-10am) Monday to Friday left turn ban trial from Putney Hill into Putney Heath Lane and a morning peak hour (7-10am) Monday to Friday left turn ban trial from Putney Heath Lane into Rusholme Road has now been approved.

The trial period will commence on 19th April for a minimum period of 6 months (with scope to extend up to 18 months), to enable the Council to gather public feedback and monitor the impact on Putney Heath Lane and adjacent residential roads.

At the end of the trial period, traffic data and consultation feedback will be fully considered before a final decision is made on whether this experimental scheme should be made permanent, dropped or amended.
