Northcote Road - Pedestrianisation Trial
Overview
The Council is again introducing the weekend road closures on Northcote Road from the 17th April to support local businesses, allowing them the opportunity to have tables and chairs on the public highway and assisting with their social distancing measures. The current 7-day closure of Abyssinia Close will continue.
During the weekend closures, buses on Northcote Road will be diverted via Bolingbroke Grove with temporary bus stops outside and opposite Bolingbroke Academy. Please note it has been necessary to introduce temporary double yellow lines and remove some parking spaces on Bolingbroke Grove to enable the bus diversions. Local access will be maintained via the point closures shown on the map below.
The weekend road closures are scheduled to commence from the 17th April until the end of October initially to allow a minimum trial period of 6 months and we hope residents will have the chance to shop locally and support Northcote Road businesses. The weekend pedestrianisation is part of a broader range of measures supporting the Council's #ShopLocal and #EatLocal campaigns.
These proposals do not affect the current licensing or opening hours for bars and restaurants.
