Proposed Traffic Calming on Keswick Road, SW15
Overview
In response to a petition received in early August 2019 from local residents regarding perceived high traffic volume, speed and the number of accidents in their road, the Council proposes to introduce traffic calming measures on Keswick Road.
Proposals (see plan here)
- To introduce a series of road humps on Keswick Road. This will reduce the risk of accidents, lower vehicle speeds and improve safety. Subject to SGN completion of their emergency works our construction is scheduled to start week commencing Monday 31 August 2020. One hump will be omitted and installed after these utility works which are programmed for early September near Askill Drive.
-
A trial banned right turn (except cyclists) out of Keswick Road onto the A3, West Hill. This will help to reduce the volume of through traffic on Keswick Road and reduce the number of right turn accidents on to West Hill. The trial is scheduled to commence on 3 September 2020 for a minimum period of six months (with scope to extend up to 18 months).
At the end of the trial period, traffic data and consultation feedback will be fully considered before a final decision is made on whether this experimental scheme should be made permanent, dropped or amended.
