Elsynge Road Traffic Management Consultation
Overview
Following the receipt of a petition from residents of Elsynge Road expressing concerns over perceived dangerous speeding problems on this road, banned left turn interventions to reduce through traffic on Elsynge Road and Spencer Road during peak hours were agreed to be trialled after meetings between residents and Ward Councillors.
A plan of the proposed left turn bans can be seen here.
What happens next
A trial consisting of a morning peak hour (7-10am) Monday to Friday left turn ban trial from the A3 Marcilly Road into Elsynge Road and an afternoon peak hour (4-7pm) Monday to Friday left turn ban trial from St. John’s Hill into Spencer Road has now been approved.
The trial period will commence on 16th December for a minimum period of 6 months (with scope to extend up to 18 months), to enable the Council to gather public feedback and monitor the impact on adjacent residential roads.
At the end of the trial period, traffic data and consultation feedback will be fully considered before a final decision is made on whether this experimental scheme should be made permanent, dropped or amended.
