Review of Wandsworth Carers Strategy
Overview
The Wandsworth Carers Strategy was developed by the Carer Partnership Wandsworth with involvement from Unpaid Carers and Young Carers. The strategy reflects national Government policy for Carers and sets out the local priorities for supporting Carers and Young Carers in Wandsworth.
An unpaid carer is anyone, including children and adults who look after a family member, partner or friend who needs help because of their illness, frailty, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction and cannot cope without their support. The care they give is unpaid.
The main priorities of the strategy are:
Priority 1 - Identification and Recognition of Carers and Young Carers
Priority 2 - Realising and Releasing Potential
Priority 3 - Supporting Carers and Young Carers to Stay Healthy
Priority 4 - A Life Alongside Caring
The Wandsworth Carers Strategy was published in 2017 and is due a refresh. We are asking partners and residents who are providing unpaid care whether there has been progress in addressing the priorities.
The Wandsworth Carers strategy document can be viewed here.
