Wandsworth Voluntary Sector Preventative Offer Survey
Overview
The Council is reviewing its preventative support services. These are services delivered by voluntary organisations in the local community which are funded by the Council to provide support for people with health and social care needs. This includes older people, people with mental health problems, people with learning disabilities, people with physical disabilities and sensory impairments, and people with long term health conditions.
Preventative support services contribute to a wide range of local priorities including prevention of ill-health, debt advice, discrimination, community safety, community involvement, social inclusion and employability.
The aim of preventative support services is to promote health and wellbeing and to reduce social isolation. This can help people to live more independently through either aiding recovery or delaying deterioration and ensuring people do not need to rely so much on services provided by the NHS and social services.
The services provided include:
- Social groups and lunch clubs for older people
- Support for people needing information and advice
- Peer support and self-help groups
- Befriending schemes and other social and support groups
- Health and well-being activities
- Support groups and services for managing specific conditions (e.g. mental health, dementia and neurological conditions)
- Provide opportunities to volunteer and contribute to the local community
To help us plan what is provided, we want to hear from people who currently use any of these services, as well as from people who think they may need these services in the future. We are interested in your experience of the services, as well as your ideas of how we can improve on what is offered.
You can access the online survey below, but if you would like a paper copy, please contact us at consultation@richmond.gov.uk
