Why your views matter
The Council continues the implementation of its Parks Improvement Plan II with a programme of improvements to parks and open spaces across the borough.
The importance of this work is acknowledged by residents who when asked in the All in One survey 2011 what they like best about their local area, the majority mentioning the Parks and Open Spaces.
There is a demand for a new play area in central Twickenham as there are currently only two dedicated areas for childrens’ play - Holly Road Garden of Rest and Diamond Jubilee Gardens on the Riverside. In addition, with two new proposed developments at Twickenham Station & the Old Sorting Office there is an expected increase in population in the area. A new play space is desirable.

York House is a 17th century building, with a fascinating history, set in beautiful grounds on the banks of the River Thames. The formal York House Gardens has a wilderness/natural area at rear of site which lends itself to an enchanted garden trail with a variety of carvings along the route, with a magical or Alice in Wonderland feel as a suggested theme. We would also like to see the Tatan family history depicted in some way with suggestion of a totem pole as a possibility.
Carvings would have a natural finish though we would consider some being painted if appropriate to the trail/setting.
There is also a possibility of creating a link between York House Gardens, Orleans Gardens and Cambridge Gardens on a play ground trail with a play leaflet to encourage more park visitors.
