The proposals for Twickenham embankment were agreed at the Cabinet meeting of 17 November 2008 (see below link for report and decision).
As at July 2010, phase 1 works are completed. Enhancements included improve surfacing, 10 new Pin Oak trees, a 'pedestrian only' safe area, street furniture improvements and an 'Eel Pie Music Legends' tribute area. See below link for before and after pictures.
Overview
Proposals for the enhancement of Twickenham Embankment between Champion's Wharf and Water Lane were consulted on during this period. Prior to this, the initial proposals were subject to pre consultation meetings with key stakeholders groups. The proposals were then refined for the formal stage of the general public consultation.
The proposals subject to consultation covered the following: trees, surfacing, new benches and bins, lighting, railings and lighting columns, cycle provision, parking, access upgrade, the grassed area off Water Lane, maintenance, new timber piles and mooring bollards and an 'Eel Pie Music Legends' tribute area.
