Thank you to all those who gave us their views on the proposed Zone T6 parking consultation. Following consideration of the feedback received, the council has approved recommendations. Details can be found here.

Overview

The Council is re-consulting roads in this area on the possibility of introducing new parking controls.   This new consultation is being carried out following petitions received from residents of roads including Railway Road, Shacklegate Lane, Clifton Road, Somerset Gardens, Somerset Road (part) and Church Road (part).  These petitions suggest a greater level of support for parking controls exists from these roads than from previous consultations carried out by the Council.

This consultation is seeking feedback from residents and businesses who are situated on the east side of Stanley Road, between the railway bridge and Shacklegate Lane (boundary of the existing Zone FW), on two options for parking controls as follows:

Option 1: This section of Stanley Road to become part of a new zone (Zone T6) operating 10am to noon, Monday to Friday.

OR

Option 2: This section of Stanley Road to become part of existing Zone FW which operates 8.30am to 6.30pm, Monday to Friday.

The Council’s view is that this section of Stanley Road should become part of the existing Zone FW (Option 2 above) as this would be consistent with the controls already in place on the western side of this road and would simplify the signage involved.

Should a CPZ be introduced in the area residents, their visitors and businesses wishing to park on street during the operational times of the CPZ will be required to purchase and display a valid parking permit. You would not be able to purchase a permit if you live in a property subject to a S106 Planning Agreement which restricts or prohibits the issue of parking permits. Details of the current parking permit prices for a two-hour (Zone T6) or ten-hour CPZ (Zone FW) are as follows:

Resident and Business permits

The above residents’ and business permit prices are for the first permit issued per household/business for one year. Subsequent permits purchased per year are approximately 50% more for the second permit and 50% more again for the third permit issued.  

Resident visitor permits

Residents’ visitor permits (scratch cards) are available at half the standard price to the over 60s. These permits must be validated for the relevant time period.
