Richmond Town Centre Improvement Scheme Consultation

Closed 10 Oct 2021

Opened 20 Sep 2021

Overview

On behalf of our residents, Richmond Council formed a working group comprised of local stakeholders, ward members, Council officers and consultants to identify areas of potential improvement to enhance the lives of those living and working in and around Richmond Town Centre.

As a result of this work the Council has produced an initial list of five mini projects to improve Richmond Town Centre (RTC); three of which are fully funded and ready to go. The three projects are Richmond Bridge Zebra Crossing, Parkshot Road crossing and The Triangle / Hill Rise Public Realm Improvements.

As part of our efforts to assist local businesses and residents in Richmond Town Centre post pandemic, these measures are intended to make it safer and easier for residents and visitors to cross Richmond Bridge and Parkshot Road, and improve public realm features at The Triangle/Hill Rise to create an improved pedestrian experience.

These measures are intended to be relatively easy to install and greatly improve movement around the town, improving the area not only for residents, but for visitors and businesses alike.

The proposed measures are as follows:

Richmond Bridge - installation of a zebra crossing with Belisha beacons between the Pitcher and Piano pub and Bills Restaurant.

See plan here

Parkshot Road Crossing - installation of a raised crossing point outside Merevale House to assist students and the public to cross this road safely.

See plan here

The Triangle / Hill Rise – upgrade of the footways and parking bays; and installation of a new parklet/green area and planters on/in the triangle area, between the junction of Hill Rise/Petersham Road up to the Vineyard Road.
