Richmond Gambling Policy Review 2012
Overview
Richmond Council is a Licensing Authority with a duty to exercise a number of functions under the Gambling Act 2005 and have due regard to the following licensing objectives set out in Section 1 of the Act:
- Prevent gambling from being a source of crime or disorder, or being associated with crime, disorder or being used to support crime
- Ensure that gambling is conducted in a fair and open way
- Protect children and other vulnerable persons from being harmed or exploited by gambling
As part of that duty Richmond Council's current Gambling Policy 'Statement of Principles under The Gambling Act 2005' was approved in December 2009 and came into effect on 31 January 2010.
There is a requirement to review this policy every three years and therefore the Authority has consulted on a revised policy to cover the period January 2013 to December 2016.
