The Alberts Controlled Parking Zone (Zone G) Possible Extension Queens Rise and Nos. 71-89 Queens Road area – Parking Consultation
Overview
The Council is consulting residents in this road and the adjacent section of Queens Road (between Queens Rise and Marchmont Road) with a view to adding this area to The Alberts Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ), Zone G. See plan here. This follows consideration of the petition from Queens Rise residents, the majority of whom request a CPZ due to parking by non-residents.
A CPZ can alleviate the difficulties residents face in finding a parking space near to their home which are due in part to the parking of vehicles by non-residents (all day commuters and/or short and long stay parking).
If the consultation identifies support to introduce parking controls in your roads, the Council will consider developing proposals in the form of an extension of the nearby existing Zone G, which currently operates 10am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday.
Residents, their visitors and businesses wishing to park on street during the operational days/hours of a CPZ are required / able to purchase and display a valid parking permit, unless you live in a property subject to a restriction on the issue of permits. (These are normally properties that have been built within the last 20-25 years). A summary on parking permits is below:
Resident permits
- The price of a permit depends on the length of the operational days / hours. Permit prices are reviewed annually.
- The cost of an annual resident parking permit in Zone G would be £91.00. (Subsequent permits purchased per household / business per year are approximately 50% more for the 2nd permit issued and approximately 50% more again for 3rd and subsequent permits issued per household / business).
- There is a limit of one resident permit per resident who owns / keeps a vehicle and vehicles must not exceed a length of 5.25m and be no more than 2.28m in height.
Resident visitor permits
- Resident visitor permits (scratchcards) currently cost £14.55 per book of ten half day permits. These are half price to the over 60s. (£7.30 with older person’s discount). Pre-booked sessions online (Pay as You Go) are £1.45 each (75p with older person’s discount).
- Two permits would be required for one full day’s parking in Zone G.
- Each household is allowed a total of 120 permits, equal to 12 books, within any 12 month period.
More information on parking permits is available on the Council’s website here.
Have your say
Please give us your views by completing the online survey below.
If you are unable to complete the survey online and you would like a paper copy of the questionnaire, please call (020) 8871 8929 and leave your name and address quoting reference ‘Queens’ and one will be posted out to you with a postage paid return envelope.

What happens next?
The Council would like to demonstrate that any measures have the support of the local community, so a good response is important. Whilst we would like to apply the most supported options among responding households, the final decision will not be based on residents’ views alone. All feedback will be considered along with relevant traffic management and other highway factors, prior to a decision being made on the way forward.
