Oak Avenue Review
Overview
The Council would like your views on the existing 20mph zone and associated traffic calming measures on Oak Avenue and Courtlands Avenue in Hampton. This review is in response to a number of concerns raised regarding the crossing locations and effectiveness of the measures in place. The existing scheme was aimed at casualty reduction and was implemented in 2009.
Key scheme elements included:
- The introduction of a 20mph zone
- A mix of speed cushions and raised tables to slow traffic
- Improvements to the mini roundabouts
- Removal of the chicane in the northern section of the road
Since the scheme was installed, personal injury collisions and vehicles speeds have reduced. A summary table is provided below for your information.
