Hanworth Road / Uxbridge Road – Proposed Junction Improvements
Results updated 20 Nov 2017
Thank you to all those who took part in the consultation.
The results showed that option 1 was the favoured layout. This was reported to the Cabinet Member for Highway and Streetscene who approved the further development and implementation of Option 1.
The report, decision and support documents can all be found here
Overview
For some time, residents have expressed concerns about congestion at the junction of Hanworth Road / Uxbridge Road. This is due to the restricted width of the road approaching the junction. This means vehicles waiting to turn right into Uxbridge Road, hold up left turning vehicles behind them.
In response to this, the Council is considering two options to address the issue:
Option 1
This proposal (shown on the map attached below) would widen the road adding an extra lane on the approach to Uxbridge Road. This would allow left turning vehicles to pass vehicles waiting to turn right.
Option 2
This proposal (shown on the map attached below) is similar to Option 1, but also includes a dedicated right turn lane on Uxbridge Road. This would reduce queuing on Uxbridge Road. However as with the existing layout, vehicles waiting to turn from Uxbridge Road would block vehicles turning right out of Hanworth Road.
We are keen to hear your views and invite you to comment on the options currently being considered. To do so please complete the online survey below by Friday 14th July when the consultation closes.
If you need a paper copy of the questionnaire please contact us at Consultation@richmond.gov.uk or 020 8831 6255.
Alternatively, the plans will also be on display in the White House, 45 The Avenue, Hampton.
Subject to a positive response to the consultation and securing funding, the Council will take forward the more popular option.
