Hampton Village Green Playground Expansion
Results updated 21 Apr 2016
Thank you to all those who responded to the consultation.
After consideration of the responses the decision was made to go ahead with the project and the installation of new play equipment will begin in May 2016. Unfortunately the wildflower meadow will no longer be included as it was not possible to find a suitable location due to the large amount of community events that are held on the green each year.
Overview
Richmond Council is in receipt of funding that is earmarked to spend on Hampton Village Green. With this funding the Council is keen to enhance the play experience for a wider range of ages by proposing to extend the play area by approximately 250 meters squared.
In the extended area the Council proposes to:
- Install a new Space Net and a High Pedestal slide (see attached images) to provide additional play features for the slightly older children who are keen to explore and climb.
- We also aim to install a number of new play and activity panels and a bumblebee springer in the existing play area so that younger users benefit from new play items as well.
- Existing play equipment will also be refurbished as required.
- New fencing and access gates will be fitted as part of the extension.
- In addition to expanding the play area the Council will install additional benches and bins as required.
- A wildflower meadow will be planted to provide important habitat for bees, butterflies and other pollinators along Station Road (see yellow section on location map.)
The aim of this consultation is to seek comments on this project and any additional feedback to the proposals. The photographs are examples of the types of play equipment that we would like to install.
