Flood Resilience Survey

Overview

Richmond Council, alongside the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust and Barnes Common Ltd, is running a local survey to better understand how heavy rainfall, flooding, and flood‑resilience projects affect people living in Barnes, Mortlake, East Sheen and Roehampton.

The survey is being carried out as part of the Community BlueScapes research project, with funding from DEFRA’s Flood and Coastal Resilience Innovation Programme. Your responses will help us build a clearer picture of local experiences, concerns and priorities, and will inform future work to improve flood resilience in the area.

The survey is open to households that received a leaflet about the project, people invited directly by the Community BlueScapes team, and residents who live within or near the Community BlueScapes catchment area, including Barnes, Castelnau, Mortlake, East Sheen and Roehampton. It takes around 10–15 minutes to complete, and we ask that only one response is submitted per household.

Thank you for taking part

Once you submit your response, the team will carry out basic checks to make sure the survey has been completed properly. This includes checking that responses are sufficiently complete, not duplicated, and from within the eligible project area.

If your response is eligible, we will contact you within around four weeks to provide a £20 voucher. Please note that only one voucher can be issued per household.

If you would like to receive the voucher, you will be asked for an email address at the end of the survey. This will be used only to send the voucher and will not be linked to your survey responses.

How your responses will be used

Survey findings will be analysed and reported in summary form only. The results will help us better understand local flood resilience, experiences of disruption, and how current flood‑related works and activities are affecting the community.
