School Streets: Collis Primary School

Closed 30 Jun 2024

Opened 23 May 2024

Overview

After holding information gathering engagement sessions with parents/carers and residents to understand local concerns and preferred actions, the Council is developing three proposal choices that we are taking to consultation. These address the main concerns raised at the engagement events and via other forms of communication. The Council is therefore seeking your views on the various options for this location, as detailed and explained below.

There are 3 options which include:

  • Option 1 - Low intervention: A School Safety Zone along Fairfax Rd and Cromwell Rd outside the school gates. Also, a review of Kingston Lane pedestrian safety and consideration of a crossing.
  • Option 2 - Medium intervention: A trial School Street on Fairfax Rd from Cromwell Rd to Harlequin Rd - potentially CCTV/ANPR enforced - as well as School Safety Zone measures along Cromwell Road. Also, a review of Kingston Lane pedestrian safety and consideration of a crossing.
  • Option 3 - High intervention: 2x trial School Streets which includes both Fairfax Rd (from Cromwell Rd to Harlequin Rd) and Cromwell Rd (from Udney Park Rd to Kingston Ln) - potentially CCTV/ANPR enforced. Also, a review of Kingston Lane pedestrian safety and consideration of a crossing.

Maps of the proposed changes can be seen in the links above along with frequently asked questions relating to this specific proposal.

The proposed hours of operation for the School Street element of the options are Monday to Friday 8.10 – 9.00 AM and 2.50 – 3.40 PM, term time only. The consultation gives an opportunity to comment on the proposed operational hours.

School Streets are in response to requests from schools, parents and residents along with the success of the 15 existing School Streets that are permanent in the borough.

Further information about other School Street schemes and their drawings can be viewed on the School Street pages of our website. If you have a question about the School Streets scheme generally, you may find the answer in our School Streets FAQ's.
