Bikehangar Consultation 2017

Overview

Richmond Council is asking for the views of local residents as part of a consultation on the installation of Bikehangars in the borough.

The Council is committed to encouraging residents to cycle and providing facilities to support cyclists. Bikehangars are secure parking units which provide secure undercover on-street parking for 6 bicycles, in about half the space a car would occupy. Once hangars are installed, local residents can apply for a space on a first come, first served basis.

Last year, Richmond Council piloted the Bikehangar scheme in St George’s Road, Richmond, and the facility proved so popular that the Council is looking at extending the scheme to an additional six streets around the borough.

After consideration by the Council, six possible locations for new bikehangars have been identified - these are:

• White Hart Lane, SW13
• Leyborne Park, TW9
• Lichfield Road, TW9
• Holmesdale Road, TW9
• Mount Ararat Road, TW10
• Royston Road, TW10

Following the consultation the decision on whether to go ahead with the installations will be taken by the Cabinet Member for Highways and Streetscene.
