Overview

The Council is consulting residents and businesses in Meadway and the Park Crescent cul de sac area on the possibility of implementing parking controls. Please see the yellow shaded area on the map attached at the bottom of the page.

This consultation follows the receipt of a petition from Meadway, asking for this road to be included in the existing West Twickenham Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ), Zone WT. It is understood that residents of this road have regularly experienced difficulties in finding a parking space near to their home due to the parking of vehicles by non-residents.

If there is support to introduce parking controls in your road, the Council will consider developing proposals in the form of an extension of nearby existing Zone WT, which operates 8.30am to 6.30pm, Monday to Saturday.

If Zone WT is extended to your road, residents, their visitors and businesses wishing to park on street during the operational times will be required to purchase / display a valid parking permit unless you live in a property subject to a S106 Planning Agreement which restricts or prohibits the issue of permits.

Resident and business permits

  • Annual resident permit price: £82.50
  • Business permit price: £282

Subsequent permits purchased per household / business per year are approximately 50% more for the 2nd permit issued and approximately 50% more again for 3rd and subsequent permits issued per household / business.

Resident visitor permits

Resident visitor permits (scratch cards) cost £13.20 per book of ten half day permits. These are half price to the over 60s. The permit must be validated for the relevant time period.  Two permits, correctly validated, would be required for one full day’s parking in Zone WT.

Information on how CPZs work including all parking charges can be found on the Council website www.richmond.gov.uk/controlled_parking_zones.

What happens next

The Council would like to demonstrate that any measures have the support of local residents, so a good response is important, although the Council will not base its decision on residents’ wishes alone. All feedback to this consultation will be considered by the Cabinet Member for Transport, Streetscene and Air Quality along with all relevant traffic management and other highway factors, prior to a decision being made on the way forward.

Further information on this consultation/review, CPZs and charges can be viewed by visiting the parking reviews webpage or by calling the Customer Service Centre on 020 8891 1411.
