Gothic Gardens Improvements
Overview
As part of our ongoing commitment to enhance our Parks and Open Spaces Richmond Council are putting forward several improvement proposals for Gothic Gardens along Richmond Riverside in Petersham Road. There is a longer term ambition to repair the Petersham Road wall which is currently fenced off due to health and safety reasons but at this stage is not part of the programme of improvements proposed due to the level of funding required for this large scale project.
However it is possible to undertake other improvements, which include improving accessibility to the park and visibility of the park from the Riverside. The Council is proposing the following:
- Lowering the riverside wall to improve views into the gardens making the area more welcoming
- Widening the existing entrance and creating ramp access from the riverside
- Repairing internal steps
- Installation of new bed edgings and path edging
- Planting the bed in front of stone wall
- Installation of benches and bins
- Installation of black badging sign giving the site an identity as Gothic Gardens
- Clearing moss off central path and resurfacing with breedon gravel
- Tree crown lifting (removing lower branches) as required
Please look at photographs in the related documents below before completing the questionnaire.
The first two improvements listed above are subject to public consultation and we would welcome your comments about these. The others listed improvements will take place over winter.
Your views are important to us and we invite you to complete and submit this questionnaire by 24th November 2013 when the consultation closes.
If the consultation provides support for the improvements, the Council would undertake the work over the winter.
