Annual Residents Survey 2014
Overview
The third Annual Residents Survey 2014 ran from 6th October to 8th December.
The Council is committed to listening to residents, and taking their views into account when making decisions. The Annual Residents Survey is a telephone survey which asks a random sample of around 1400 local people about a number of important issues.
The results from the Residents’ Survey are a very important source of information as they help the Council to understand what is important to residents. They feed into decisions on how Council Tax is spent and help us to track how well we are delivering on our commitments.
This year once again the survey found high rates of satisfaction with the Council and the services it provides. Key results from the survey include;
- 83% said they were satisfied with the way the Council runs things, unchanged from 2013
- 70% agree the Council acts on the concerns of residents, unchanged since 2013
- 62% thought the Council provides good value for money, up from 57% in 2013
Satisfaction with the local area as a place to live remains very high at 96%, and satisfaction with the majority of services, including roads and pavements, services for children and older people, and the provision of arts, museums and entertainment has gone up. The condition of roads and pavements remains residents’ most important priority for improvement in the next 12 months.
