Redevelopment of Twickenham Academy 2011
Overview
Whitton School reopened as Twickenham Academy last year. As part of the conversion of the school to an Academy, the Council has been awarded a grant from central government to rebuild the school. The school, its sponsors, and the Council have worked on plans for the new Academy for several months and have developed a detailed design.
Consultation event
A design consultation event was arranged for Monday 7 February 2011 (5pm - 7pm, Twickenham Academy, Percy Road, Twickenham, TW2 6JW) so that parents and the local community could view the design proposals for the new building, put questions to the architect and provide comments prior to the submission of a planning application. Letters were sent to residents in the local area inviting them to attend.
What happens next
This was a consultation event undertaken prior to a planning application and no written comments from residents were received. A small number of local residents attended the event and their comments were mainly positive. The planning application was submitted as planned, and planning permission was gained.
