Redevelopment of Hampton Academy
Overview
Hampton Community College reopened as Hampton Academy on 1 September 2010. As part of the conversion of the school to an Academy, the Council has been awarded a grant from Central Government to remodel and rebuild a large part of the school. The school, its sponsors and the Council worked on plans for the new Academy for several months to produce a detailed design.
Consultation event
Parents and the local community were invited to attend a design consultation event held at Hampton Academy (Hanworth Road, Hampton, TW12 3HB) on Wednesday 22 September (4.30pm - 7.30pm) to look at the plans and provide comments before a planning application is submitted in October.
Attendees had the opportunity to view details of the proposed development, the construction phase and read information relating to the likely benefits for the community. A series of exhibition boards and two scale models were on display, and a computer generated fly through of the proposed school site was also shown. The architect was also available to answer questions.
A letter with details of the event was sent to local residents and ward Councillors in advance.
What happens next
34 people attended the consultation event. At the exhibition, verbal comments were overwhelmingly positive, as were the two comment cards received.
What has happened as a result?
Formal statutory consultation and public consultation will now take place with local stakeholders, members of the public and other interested parties through the planning application process.
