Opened 17 Jul 2010

Overview

The London Borough of Richmond upon Thames is seeking to improve accommodation for special educational needs and provide enhanced curriculum facilities for 14 - 19 year old pupils at secondary schools in the borough.

The Council has appointed Pick Everard to develop proposals for Grey Court School that will involve the remodelling and extension of the current buildings. Pick Everard has been working closely with the school and governors to develop the design which is nearing the point where a planning application will be submitted. Views on the proposed plans are being sought prior to submitting a planning application.

Consultation event

A consultation event was held on Saturday 17 July 2010 at Grey Court School in the 'Ingenium Classroom' from 11.30am - 2pm. Parents and the local community were given the opportunity to view the design drawings on display, along with further information about the project. The architect was also available to answer questions. Invitation letters were sent to residents prior to the event.

What happens next

There were seventeen visitors at this event. The building proposals were presented and comments were invited from parents and local residents. The proposals are being developed to improve accommodation for special educational needs and provide enhanced curriculum facilities for 14 - 19 year old pupils - it was noted that the plans are not to provide for the addition of a sixth form to the schools, but to enhance facilities for current students.

Generally the feedback was positive, with the designs being well received.

What has happened as a result?

Comments have been fed back to the architects and formal consultation will take place through the planning application process.
