Darell Primary School - pre planning consultation 2010

Closed 19 Oct 2010

Opened 19 Oct 2010

Overview

The London Borough of Richmond upon Thames is seeking to improve accommodation for special educational needs (SEN) at primary schools in the borough. The Council has appointed Jacobs to develop proposals to move the SEN unit to the ground floor and remodel the administration areas at Darell Primary School. Jacobs has been working closely with the school and governors to develop the design which is nearing the point where a planning application will be submitted.

Consultation event

A consultation event for parents and the local community is to be held at Darell Primary School (Darell Road, Richmond, TW9 4LQ) on Tuesday 19 October 2010, 3.30pm - 7.30pm. The design drawings will be on display to provide more information about the project and collect views on the proposed plans prior to a planning application being submitted. The architect will also be available to answer questions. Letters have been sent home with pupils and also sent to local residents inviting them to attend. The consultation has been advertised in the school newsletter and on the school website.

What happens next

There were thirteen visitors at this event. The building proposals were presented and comments were invited from parents and local residents. The proposals have been developed with the aim to improve accommodation for special educational needs and provide enhanced administration facilities at the school.

Generally the feedback was positive, with the modern design being well received.

What has happened as a result?

Comments have been fed back to the architects and formal consultation will take place through the planning application process.
