ISH service Review Stakeholder Survey
Overview
Who is this survey aimed at?
The survey is aimed at professionals working directly with adults and young people who may need to use sexual health or contraceptive services in Wandsworth, Merton or Richmond.
What is the purpose of this survey?
The main objective of the survey is to understand more about professionals’ knowledge of the local Integrated Sexual Health (ISH) service including where it is located and what it provides. In addition, it serves to gather views on what works well about the service and any areas of improvement/development.
Why are we doing this survey now?
The current ISH service contract is due to expire in 2024 so commissioners are undertaking a review of the service to inform future service provision and delivery.
Background
The local integrated sexual health (ISH) service which covers the boroughs of Wandsworth, Merton and Richmond provides:
- testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
- routine and complex contraception
- medication to prevent HIV infection (pre-exposure prophylaxis/PrEP)
- psychosexual counselling
- advice and support
- specialist clinics for under 19 year olds , gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men (GBMSM) and chemsex.
The service has three sites - Falcon Road (Clapham Junction), Patrick Doody clinic (Wimbledon) and Off the Record (Twickenham). It is available to all ages and is an open access service so users do not need to be resident in the three boroughs to access the service.
The ISH service is part of a wider framework of sexual and reproductive health provision which includes but is not restricted to: emergency hormonal contraception (EHC) in pharmacies; the National Chlamydia Screening Programme (NCSP) for 15-24 year olds; routine and long acting reversible contraception provided by GPs; online services for STI self-sampling; community based sexual health promotion and HIV prevention for vulnerable groups; free condom distribution schemes for young people; and support to schools and colleges with providing relationship and sex education.
