Overview

A petition has been presented to the Council by some residents of Crestway and Huntingfield Road SW15. The petitioners reported difficulties finding a space due to commuter and long stay parking by non-residents, including staff and patients of Queen Mary’s Hospital and students of Roehampton University.

They asked the Council to introduce a Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) in their roads, which is a scheme aimed at prioritising parking for local residents and businesses.

Given the level of support indicated by these representations, and an investigation by officers, the Council has approved a consultation with residents and businesses to consider your views on parking conditions in the area and on the possibility of introducing a CPZ.

A map highlighting the proposed CPZ zone can be found at the bottom of the page.

Should there be support among residents of these roads for a scheme to be introduced and approval is obtained to proceed, this is likely to increase the pressure on parking in neighbouring roads, were they to remain uncontrolled, and result in further requests for CPZ controls to be introduced. Therefore, the Council is carrying out this consultation exercise throughout a much wider area.

Please note that the responses will be analysed over the whole area as well as on a street-by-street basis meaning that a CPZ could be introduced over the whole area if widely supported, or in some streets and not others, if appropriate.

It will be for the residents/businesses of your roads to inform the Council whether they would like a scheme to operate in their road. The views expressed by local residents and businesses, whilst an important factor, will be considered along with all relevant traffic management and other highway factors, when arriving at a decision about the merits of introducing a scheme and how it should operate.

Please note that a CPZ can only be introduced on ‘public highway’ roads maintained at public expense. A CPZ cannot be introduced on streets which are not ‘highway’ or off-street parking bays and access roads associated with (current or former) Council housing properties.

A CPZ fact sheet can be found at the bottom of the web page which explains the options open to you, how CPZs work and the current costs involved. This can also be found on the Council website http://www.wandsworth.gov.uk/parking.

Please read this information carefully before providing your response. We wish to base any recommendations on a high response rate and it is important that we receive your views even if you do not own a vehicle, as parking controls would affect your visitors.

YOUR VIEWS ARE IMPORTANT TO US: Please complete the online survey below by Monday 18 December 2017. If you would like a paper copy of the document or the survey, or you live outside of the consultation boundary, please contact us at consult@wandsworth.gov.uk

The Council would like to demonstrate that any change has the support of local residents so a good response is very important. All feedback to this consultation will be considered along with all relevant traffic management and other highway factors, prior to a decision being made on the way forward.

Further information including updates on this consultation, can be viewed on the Parking Reviews webpage or by emailing parking@wandsworth.gov.uk
