Wellington Road, Twickenham - Proposed improvements to the pedestrian island on Wellington Road by the railway footpath/Clonmel Road.
The Council is inviting comments on a proposal to improve the existing pedestrian island on Wellington Road by the railway footpath/Clonmel Road.
A pedestrian crossing audit was undertaken by the Council just before Covid-19 which looked at existing crossing facilities in the Richmond borough and identified issues.
The island on Wellington Road by the railway footpath/Clonmel Road was identified as being substandard in width and a well-used crossing point on route to local schools.
It is planned to rebuild this island to a more suitable width of two metres and repave the footways for a short distance either side as there are broken slabs there currently. The road markings would be realigned accordingly.
A slightly wider island may encourage slower speed through this section; therefore, we would consider improving the 20 signage on both sides of the island as part of this proposal.
These proposals will not have any impact on the existing control parking zone [CPZ] bays.
